By default, WordPress always includes a prefix to your archive (categories, tags, author, etc.) titles. For example, if you go to a category, you get the label “Category:” inserted just before the name of your category. For some people, this might now be visually pleasing to see.

With the Default Prefix Label:

Without the Prefix Label:

This tutorial will show how to disable the prefix label for archives.

Note: We will be moving this to the labels section of the customizer in a future theme update.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Blog Options.
  2. Go to the Show or Hide Settings section and check the box next to the Hide Prefix in Archive Page
  3. Click the Publish button.
